Just the consistancy of flood legends throughout most of the worlds cultures would seem to indicate that there was some type of catastophe that was evident throughout most of the world. This could very well been consistant with the sudden melting of glacial formations at the end of the last ice age. Many large groups of animal bones found in large piles in caves and canyons also seem to indicate that a sudden catastophic event like flooding caught them off guard. The idea of floodwaters covering the entire planet as well as the story of Noah and the ark and the sumarian story of the epic of Gilgamesh are of course myths, metaphors and exaggerations of such a catastrophe. Ancient peoples most likely assumed that the entire planet was flooded if their particular homeland were completely submerged.

snare&racket:
How many Muslim countries actually follow tha taqqiya? What about the converted christian who's been sentenced to death for apostacy in Iran? It seems to me that the main issue with Islam is the control exercised over Muslim governments by the fundamental and radical clerics.

Who or what "governs" the teachings of the so-called GOVERNING BODY?
by Terry inif a person walked up to you one day and started telling you what to do, how to do it, and threatening you if you refused, wouldn't you immediately ask them by what authority they had such a right?

I can't tell you how many times I heard the phrase "Bad associations spoil usfull habits" when I was a kid. Of course they were referring to usefull habits like going out in service and spending hours of quality time at the KH.

Is there really an anointed class?
by free thought ini am of the anointed but care not for the title as i believe that those having put on a christ-like personality can also be born again .i encourage those jws not to be swayed by peer pressure and heed gods calling.
the year book will very soon not mention the growth of the anointed since the generation change.. things jws have to consider>.
1* when the scriptures refer to " i have other sheep not of this foal" it may mean gentiles as well as jews of which the new covering of circumcision applied .. 2* the term little flock is similar to the term little book a phrase of commonality used in greek translations .. rutherford acting as veto, to the majority fds as in singular and not plural invented the two class system ,( read his book doors close in 1936 ) which i no doubt will be yet another of wts do not re-print list .. rutherford had an irion handed approach and was not liked among his very own peers i believe god used him only for his legal expertise ( espionage act 1918 vs. usa constitution ) but thats about it.

In most of the other christian sects the annointed are referred to as the elect. Unlike JW's the elect don't have a separate reward. Their purpose is to serve as a mouthpiece for God and to represent Him while rebuking the antichrist when he arrives. They are not to speak their own words but the words of God which will be directly channeled through them.

News Item!! The Biblical NT story has been PROVEN to be a hoax!!
by Jack C. inok i lied; there's no such news item.
however, imagine for a minute that it was indeed fact and that the evidence was irrefutable that the new testiment account in the bible was proven to be a hoax started by the early constantine government and perpetuated by the church over the centuries.
now, if you are of the atheist persuation it seems plausable that your reaction would be something similar to "i told you so" and that life would go on pretty much as usual.

Most of the repliers seem to already be on the skeptical side and if such a newsworthy item did appear in the media would probably not be affected to any great extent. What has always seemed strange to me is that when such a scenario is presented to most any Christian they seem to find it almost impossible to defend their faith without the biblical crutch. While I am a believer in an intelligent Creator and the majority of religious exposure I've had has been Christian I find it amazing that people who claim to have an unbreakable faith base their entire belief system on a book alone. They seem to feel that if the bible is wrong that all hope is lost and there is nowhere else to turn. The Bible has actually become a reveared idol and an object of worship in Christian culture. If you present the same question to a Seik or Hindu for example they will tell you that while the Vedic texts are of great importance to them, their faith is completely independent of any book or scripture. Personally I find that the fascinating discoveries currently being made in quantum physics, biology and cosmology provide me with more evidence and faith in a Creator than the Bible could ever have.

OK I lied; there's no such news item. However how would those of you here who still maintain faith in the New Testiment story and prophesy handle this information on a personal basis? Would your faith in a Creator and any hope for some kind of eternal salvation be weakened, shaken or even shattered? If you still maintained your faith, what would be the basis? How would you comfort family and friends whom would quite likely to be devestated and lost due to this huge revelation? Are there any here that presently have a strong faith in God and an afterlife whose faith would not be shaken by a disproven bible? How would you maintain your faith and how would convey that faith to others without any use or reference to a discredited bible and savior?
Of course this is just a simple exercise but it does seem to be relevant to anyone who maintains any kind of believe in a God or Creator. It seems that in nearly any situation where believers (particularly Christians) are discussing their faith the vast majority are completely lost without a bible or reference to it. How many feel that the bible or some other form of holy book is absolutely essential for faith in God? How many relevant esoteric conversations have you ever had with believers without the use of the bible?

How many Facilities & Farms does the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society now own? $
by Balaamsass incan anyone tell me how many farms and facilities the watchtower bible and tract society now owns in the usa?
how many assembly halls?.
kingdom halls?.

According to the last census there are over 30,000 cities and townships in the US. Since many cities have multiple kingdom Halls and some towns may have none it's a good guess there are over 30,000 Kingdom Halls in the US alone. If the average value is a very conservative $75,000 each that totals $2,225,000,000 (2.25 billion). If you add in the rest of the world this may perhaps double to around $5 billion. This of course doesn't count assembly halls.
